Surround Yourself with Color!

Spring is in full bloom and we know that the projects in this issue will beckon you to prime your palette for the season, with hues ranging from lovely soft pastels to vibrant, rich, and bold. This is also a wonderful time of year to experiment with new paints, mediums, and techniques.

Join us and celebrate the beauty of nature’s gifts with a collection of botanical-themed projects, featuring wild roses, dahlias, tulips, wisteria, grape hyacinths, and a variety of herbs—some are painted as realistic renderings and others are painted in a more primitive folk-art style.

Among this issue’s features are interesting products and techniques for painting on glass. Be sure to check out the glass Lace Cake Stand and Stemware set on page 76 and the Prime Your Palette column, “Painting on Glass, Part 1,” on page 82.

Chalk paint formulas are currently gaining in popularity and becoming more readily available. These products are an excellent choice to use on larger items. With the arrival of warmer weather, it is the perfect time to seek out flea markets and garage sales for large furniture pieces to refinish. Now you can tackle these projects, knowing that you can find products to do the job with ease. With little to no prep required, refinishing furniture has never been easier! Read about the new Americana Décor Chalky Finish Paint line in our Savvy Studio column on page 90.

If you’ve adapted patterns from PaintWorks, we’d love to share them with our readers. Send a photo, together with a brief description, to All American Crafts, Inc., PaintWorks Reader Project, 7 Waterloo Rd., Stanhope, NJ 07874. Include an SASE if you'd like your photo to be returned.

Happy painting!
